Did the patina 'take' the same on the weld?
Yes patina took on the Weld. Actually the weld disappeared. Metal got so hot it fused together. Like welding temp. And it's plenty big. I will send a different pic showing length
So here the razor near a hold solar razor to give you all 5 an idea of its size
It's a-frowning. Points are too sharp. Aside from that, looks good! :D Do the gold Dollar frown?
You did this on a Harbor Freight belt sander? Feeling inspired now...
Great work! I would be a little concerned about the pointy heel, and like Sharptonn said the edge looks a bit like it's frowning - maybe just the pic angle?
At any Rate - I like what you did, the patina looks nice an even and the tail decoration looks great!
yup. on a belt sander. patience, being very careful , not to hurt myself, or heat the blade to much after heat treat. I think what everyone is seeing is the bevel . it is actually a very straight edge , but for some reason when honing , because of the steel thickness in different parts of the edge , it appears to frown. I noticed it myself. I will take a further look at it tonight and make sure that is the case. But yes, with patience I was surprised what I did . You all helped a lot and others on this forum so much that I am looking at building a 2 by 72 belt grinder now. I will look at making it myself, with nephews help. maybe sell what I have made to supplement the cost of a do it yourself belt grinder. the first razor I made I used to shave last night. worked better than others that I did not make . very satisfying hobby.
