I obtained this as just a bare blade some time ago. I posted it earlier looking for information on the maker. It seems there is little to none. At any rate I finally go around to cleaning it up and making some scales for it. The pitting was very deep and it was questionable if it would clean up. I had to leave the pitting on the tang to save the makers stamp. The pits are clean but the light seemed to catch it right so they appear black. The blade is heavy with a 1/4"spine and a 3 1/8" edge. I'd say it's as true a wedge grind as you'll find. Since it came without scales I copied a set from a Wade & Butcher from the same time period. The scales are honey horn with beveled edges, beehive brass collars and lead wedge. I probably should have made the wedge with more taper. It has about .015 and I got lazy I guess. The toe of the blade is about halfway in the scales and the heal close to the bottom. The few early blades I have do not sit very deep in the scales and I was copying what I had.

It just cruised through 2 days worth of whiskers today. I think I'll keep it.
