your workmanship & finish does look excellent,
but the tang looks short to me also.
just my observations & opinion YMMV
as a guide for designs, all my vintage straights I have been measuring for ideas & guides have the following dimensions
Blade edge = 3" long +/-1/8" (75mm +/-3mm)
heal to pivot (thumb rest) = 1.5" long +/-1/4" (40mm +/-6mm)
Tail from pivot to inside of curve finger rest = 1.25" long +/-1/4" (30mm +/-6mm)
Monkey tails add extra inches length to suit your taste
now the only reason in my opinion all these different brands have very these similar dimensions is because the old boys found what worked for the masses as they progressed for over 200 years from the late 1700's Stub tails through the peek of the Straights use & fame in the 1800's to the current modern designs & brands
this is JMHO & YMMV
