D.C. Halsted 9/8 FBU
I posted this the other day in the Razor forums looking for information on the maker. Looks like a tough one to find. So here she is wearing some pretty translucent horn scales. The scale coloring in brown with smokey gray streaks that look much nicer than the pictures show. I have no idea what the original scales looked like so I went with what you find on Wade & Butcher FBU's. They are .110 thick with a lead wedge and domed brass collars and pins. The 1 13/16 blade just got some light buffing to remove some surface corrosion and scratches. I did not want to hurt the blade stamp. Another fun restore.
Thanks for looking,
Karl

As I said over in the thread about the blade, Very nice. Now, it is even nicer! :tu
The choice of scale shape was a wise move IMO. I still suspect Wade and Butcher had a hand in it! ;)
A beautiful razor, you are to be commended. :nj

All of the above....you really did honor that blade! I'll only say my condolences to Neil Miller for having to find out that one of his Sheffield manufacturers had their price. Funny, I just heard the phrase, 'everyone has their price' on some show I was watching last night. That aside, a sweet piece of work, thanks again for posting.

I just had to come back and look again and I am just so impressed. First by the blade, which is a classic work of art. Second by your craftsmanship and taste in giving the blade a new life by touching it up without erasing any of the original beauty. And third by your voice of scales, lead wedge and collars and pins to make it look like a modern update of a classic. It is beautiful, and makes me feel like my beard would just drop off when threatened by it!
Great work! :tu
