This is a beauty that I just finished for a good friend, with a 'minimalist' approach... :). I kept it as close as I could to an original finish with minimal sanding done with very high grit, and then a progression of polishes ending with a leather wheel impregnated with lead. Fortunately although there was quite a bit of rust especially around the tang near the pivot and the dual jimps, there was minimal pitting.
The scales are original Bakelite, and were extremely discolored to what I can only describe as a green/tan baby poop color...Yuck! After a bit of work they restored beautifully.
And what an outstanding shaver! I love the #14 Henckels...reminds me of a Filarmonica, and I couldn't tell the difference between the two
Hope you like it!
