Default OCD 8/8'S mammoth and lava

This story starts off sadly. Years ago I bought an 8/8's Henkel's Friodur razor with mammoth scales from a famous razor maker. I believe that he got the beautifully ground razors from a third party and he did the file work and added the scales.
When the razor arrived it wouldn't close without the toe contacting the scales. I noticed two things. the tang had a slight bend in it and the scales were warped. Not the usual bending warp but a twisting warp which kept getting worse over time. I applied a micarta backer but the twisting continued(over a period of months). Meanwhile I tried to straighten the tang. Snapped that sucker right off. Bummer.

Skip ahead 4 years. Warping had stopped. I flattened the micarta side and set out to put a razor in them.

I want to say warpage is risk with any natural material. Heat and external forces can reek havoc. I in no way hold my friend, the seller, responsible. Mother Nature always wins.

I liquefied the entire surface of this razor with an acetylene welding torch to give a flowing look as in solidified lava. It is 8/8's full hollow with no jimps.

Scales are stabilized mammoth tusk bark, which is the outside of the tusk.

This might be a nice razor for Fred Flintstone

    As always, thanks for looking
