A Couple Gold Dollars

Hey guys!

So, I thought I'd share a couple of razors I've reworked. Before I started making razors, I actually decided to familiarize myself with them to some extent by redoing a few inexpensive Gold Dollars.

The first is actually a donation razor for a charity auction being held to benefit the fight against breast cancer. It was a lot of fun to make (but...they're all a lot of fun to make so it kind of goes without saying lol). The wood is spalted box elder burl.

This razor was ordered by a customer who had previously purchased a full custom. Prior to these he had always used antiques. After receiving the custom he decided he wanted a 'travel razor' so that he wouldn't end up losing the rather more expensive custom, lol.











I'm not sure what the material is on the scales lol. Some sort of pigmented resin I'm guessing (smells like fiberglass resin when grinding it). The wedge however is G10.

Anyhow, thanks for looking! It's really nice to have a place to share my work, and have it critiqued by so many experienced people!

Beautiful work. Nice design and flow. Not very often do you see matte tang and tail. A+

Thanks everyone. Lethalgraphix, I actually do the matte on my customs as well most often. Though the customs get dual treatments more often than just matte. You can't see it on the travel razor, but the blade itself is actually a high grit belt finish, while the tang/tail/spine is black matte. My customer needed the razor asap so I could only get pictures in certain lighting. I have some build pictures I took for the customers that might show it a little better:
