Hello all!

Umm, can't see a photo. Did you post to B&B, and link it? Because that can be a problem for folks who've been, ahem, asked to not return there.
"asked" ?
:roflmao
I have also been picture challenged before ! :gth

Have no idea how that happened, or actually didn't happen. Oops.
that looks really interesting. what are the specs/materials etc?
From what I can see the aesthetics of the AcrylStab wood combined with the treatment on the Damascus is too much for me, personally. I think the word I would use is garish. Can't see the whole blade so no comment there. I do like the pinning though.
Bob
Thanks Bob, I can appreciate that. That's what simpler design is for.
This however, was a custom comissioned exactly as such, and the new owner loves it, which was my goal.
Thanks! Jacob
Yea, you built for a customer to his specs and he is happy with it and that is well and good. Everyone has different tastes and that is definitely not mine.
The design is simple enough for sure. At least I think it is not being able to see the whole blade. It is simply a matter of different tastes in ornamentation. With plainer amboyna burl wood scales and plain Damascus blade without treatment it might appeal to me.
Bob
Now this http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...ic-christ.html is a custom that would appeal to me. Simple, classic and understated.
Bob
Yessir. As for me, my favorite wood is currently Jerusalem Olive wood, or red cocobolo. Though curly burl walnut is nice as well.
It would be nice to see pictures of both blade faces and end on to see the profile.
Can I be blunt?
I'm going to suggest that a new vendor, covert or not, might enter a special thread called, let's say, The Critical View. It would be understood that the maker would be open to discussions about his work and that the only real goal was to advance the craft of razor making. You couldn't get away with: 'here's my new work, it's great, isn't it? Shut-up.
Am I prejudiced? Yep. I think that the finest examples of the custom razor are those which combine the aesthetics of the past with the metallurgical and engineering advances of the present.
A bit busy, and bulky for my taste, but kudos to you for being able to deliver to your clients requests.
I love the fact that it's not the same old same old. I love the cutting edge designs.
How did you get the blade all black? I would to have one in all black.
ummm. I forget what it's called, but where's the part I shave my face with? It should have one of those, as those are the types of razors I use most.
That's crazy gorgeous! More pics please!
Cheer.
Wow! That is gorgeous.
Bob,
What are your thoughts on this one?

That's amazing! Great looking razor!
Wow! They have the subtly as a punch in the face!
Bit too much for me but :chapeau
Crouching tiger, hidden dragon.
How does the damascus look like copper?
Have you ever made what might be called a traditional straight razor?
I have and do, just tend to not take as many pictures of those.

The scales still look a little chunky to me. The tail appears kind of short and the tang kind of leggy. I just figured out what looks really off to me: You didn't thin the spine of the razor leading to the pivot pin. Therefore the huge space between the scales. This is all just talk though. This razor looks like the direction you might go rather than the direction you have been. IMHO and really, I'm not that humble. Keep at it JR.
Thanks I appreciate those pointers! The others that I've posted are all customs made to order, so they're already gone before they're made. However, when I do get a chance to create a line myself other than the basic O1 line. I'll add a couple in slim clean lines. Thank you!
Man I look at your razors all the time and one day it will be mine, oh yes it will be mine. Waynes world quote of the day. Beautiful razor though seriously
I love it. The blade is amazing!
Different strokes for different folks, nice work, well executed ! I'm just starting out making razors but I'm a long time knife maker and a nut job when it comes to attention to detail and fit and finish ,from what I can see your on the right track !
