    Smile Joseph Allen's Celebrated Razor

I posted this razor a bit ago in the 'show and tell' forum because of the unusual jimps. I finally got around to restoring it. The blade is 6/8 and I've retained the original horn scales. They cleaned up nicely with just a few small bug bites. The scales had many heavy file marks along its edges and at the wedge end interior they were deep enough there were gaps between the wedge and scales. It's interesting that many times all the work is lavished on the blade but the scales not so much.
I'm sure most folks are familiar with Joseph Allen & Sons and the Non-XLL trademark circa 1883 until they were liquidated in 1933. This blade seems to be from before that period.
