Default Wade and Butcher "Musical Chairs"

Sometimes I change my mind.......What can I say?
This all began several years ago as I put some scales on one of my favorite blades. I won't go into detail here, but here is a link about it: http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...e-butcher.html

Loved that razor for a long time. THEN, a guy I had bought from in the past told me he had almost sold all of his razors and had some nice laser-engraved curly maple boxes to sell, so I snapped them up. One had a nice Wade and Butcher logo on it, so I needed a pair of them...Waiting...looking..

A good year later, I saw some scales for sale which were just like the ones on my beloved square-point.
Previously silver-plated and worn to almost brass in the same pattern!

Going at it in earnest, I found a few Celebrated blades in my pile. One was larger and had been straight-honed, so I went about profiling the blade to match the smaller, smiling one. It worked out, but the bevel on the one I modified was pretty darn big at the toe and gave me fits with tape here, there, could not get it shaving after several attempts.

So I tossed the mess aside and did something else for a year or so.
Long story short(er), I drug it all out the other day. Mr. thin bevel had been in my old scales, honed it up easily, so I began anew on Mr. wide bevel. (That is their names, no joke!)

One layer of tape and letting it be what it is, it came around nicely and shaves equally as good as it's thinner-beveled brother. Showed me I was pretty close before and had just gotten frustrated. I walk away from them a lot!

This pair was all about the patina. Light cleaning on the scales, went with some old brass collars from another old Sheffield at the top. Hand rubbed the blades with CroOx and a scrap of crocus cloth before honing. Made a divider for the box and upholstered it as best I could.

No need to number them, all I need to do is look at the bevels (Or the tangs!) to tell them apart!

Beautiful set, Tom. I don't know which I like more-the razors or the box. Thanks for sharing.
