Thread: Twin City Dreadnought in Camel Bone Redux

Took this Twin City out of the Himalayan Rams horn and put it in this Camel Bone with a lead wedge. Unlike many of my other scale designs, this one is the thinnest Ive done. The more I do the more I learn...

Have you read my tutorial on how to make and install a lead wedge? Small details can really make a razor. Your wedge appears to be a spacer. Fit is very important. The inside area where the wedge will mate to the scales needs to be flat with no broken edges on the scales. Good that you thinned down the scale material. How thick is it? Bone is very stiff. Keeping them thin at say .090 will help them function correctly with the wedge.

If I were being SUPER critical I would shorten up the wedge end a bit....



And as karlej says, make a WEDGE not a spacer...

I am NOT trying to be a downer...Just offering my limited advice.

All in all it is a GREAT looking piece that you should be PROUD of!

Yes it was fun stuff, almost as bad as some of the horn Ive played with.

I tossed around the idea of doing a washer less pinning, but for some reason it scared me. I kept thinking I was going to crack the bone and have to start all over.
