George Savage & Sons XX
I don't run across many by this maker. Tweedale's Directory says the XX trade mark was granted in 1833 and George Savage & Sons had ceased trading during the 1860's. This one is a gentle smiling 13/16 near wedge in a crocus type finish. The scales are black translucent horn with streaks of brown and gray. At .105 thickness you can see through them in the right light. The pictures do not do them justice. The lead wedge is tapered from .080 to .030 and it's all held together with brass beehive collars and pins. Finish honed on a 20K Gokumyo.
Thanks for looking.
