Default 15/16 explosion damascus in mammoth tusk Ivory

This is a razor I finished today. The size is 15/16. The steel is explosion Damascus. I'm experimenting a bit with different types of Damascus, and how they survive forging and hollow grinding. Many things that look great in a knife just look awful on a razor because the patterns don't survive hollow grinding in many cases, especially near the edge. The steel here was made by Maarten Van Hattem. I didn't know what this would look like before I started. All I knew was that it was 'wild' so even if the pattern washed out, at least it would be chaotic.

The scales are mammoth tusk ivory, with a black horn wedge.

Beautiful razor Bruno! Have you made any knives with this pattern? (For comparison, as you mentioned a difference)

That truly is a fantastic piece Bruno, and I really like the extended tail and traditional look as well. Fantastic work!

No i haven't. The man who made the steel does. He told me that it came out different compared to what he is used to so for us it's a bit if an experiment to see how those things translate after hollow grinding. And of course he is still coming to grips with my concept of 'beautiful ' compared to his

That's an age old struggle. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.
