First time fix up.

Greetings.

I have been using a straight razor on and off for the past twenty plus years and recently needed to get myself a new one. After looking around I soon found myself here on SRP, then I very quickly found myself reading and absorbing everything I could about restoration and rebuilds. It didn't take long before I decided that instead of paying a fortune for a new razor I should get a used razor and make it mine, I didn't choose a highly collectable razor to do this as this is my first razor fix up and I got it with the intention of fixing/messing the thing up. I chose to use only hand tools throughout. With buffalo horn scales,white acrylic wedge, brass pivot washers, stainless steel washers and nickle silver pins. I tapered the scales from being thin at the wedge to thicker across the middle to slightly thinner at the pivot to get an almost teardrop shape once the wedge and blade is in place. I have never done any kind of peening before and was very happy with how well it went. I have never worked with horn before and the hand sanding of the horn to shape took a very long time at the low grits yet mirror polishing the blade by hand went surprisingly quicker than I thought. The horn blank was slightly warped so I flatened it using foil and a clothes iron, this took several attempts to work. Anyway I'm talking on and on and I came here to show you some pictures and say a big THANK YOU to everyone that shared there knowledge and experience here, I have learned a great many things and for this you all have my humble gratitude. Now for my next hand made project, a leather case for this razor, I may be back with pictures of this too.
