    Default Wade & Butcher 8/8th

Finally I got a hold of an 8/8 ths chopper Celebrated hollow.

This blade was in good condition apart from some deep vertical scratches on the side of the spine.

For those deep scratches I started with 400 grit glass paper. The rest of the blade I started with 1000 grit paper, going up to 3000 and metal polish.

I managed to keep all the lines sharp n crisp.

The scales could have been re used but I was going for my own style.
Firstly I made horn scales then I made some wooden scales and both were slightly flawed in design .

I decided to take some old rose wood scales I made previously and re work them . Thinned them out , a new wedge and so on.

I used solid brass bull's-eye collars with nickel pins and brass internal washers.
The wedge was made from rose wood lined with brass and the scales were finished with linseed oil, finishing oil, beeswax, basically anything I could throw at it..

Honing it was a delight if not awkward and the shave was in my top 2 shaves of all time. One pass would have done it.
Its now stropped n oiled and put away for special occasions .
I see what all the fuss is about concerning these chopper blades.
