New design in Wootz and Mammoth Ivory
This is a new design I worked on for a while. I was asked to make a razor in wootz so I made a couple of drawings based on some of the things the customer said. And just to fill the page, I added a last drawing that was much more 'out there' than the rest. To my surprise, his reaction was an immediate: 'That one!' So a lot of time and 2 prototypes later it was done. I also invested some more time in the polishing and etching.
The scales are mammoth tusk ivory and thankfully I had a bunch of blocks in stock. The edge on this one is 3.25" long almost and the tang is longer, which makes that I needed just over 6" length for the scales.
The test shave was awesome.

Thanked: 4207Simply superb work sir!
Really like the esthetics of the additional holes at toe and heel, gives it a cool balance that really works with the scale material and hue of the steel.

Thanked: 23Interesting, I've never messed with it, maybe I can get my hands on some and do some testing some time. So far I'm liking 52100, but don't have a lot of other blades to compare it too.
