My Magnum Opus strop
After finding a nice piece of Linen fire hose at a good price i just had to make a strop. Now i've made several for myself and my son but i wanted this to be special. i Just love the elephant hide scraps i got at the leather store and needed a way to use them.
Normally my leather work is on the utilitarian side of the craft so i decided to do something on the "fine" leather working side. Bought some high end "Lin Cable" linen thread (as used by the fine European leather companies) as well as some leather edge paint (from Italy).
The main strop is english bridle with a linen fire hose secondary. Black hardware from strapworks I am sure i over built it but i didn't want it to ever wear out.
each of the joints is reinforced with nylon web (this is what i mean by over built, but at least i can use it to lower myself from a second story window in case of emergency)
the hanger end is the only part i made to disassemble easily
