Fantastic looking scales and grain pattern.
Do you know what kind of wood that is?
Pete <:-}
Thanks I believe it's mesquite. We found it at my wife's grandparents after they passed away no telling how old that log was. Could be as old as the razor.
Very nice indeed. I love the grain.
It looks like mesquite. Great grain pattern.
That's some beautiful wood. Well done.
Thanks everyone y'alls comments make me want to start another. The squared off block of wood in the photo is for a box for that razor, but it has some cracks in it. I'm gonna do a turquoise inlay to the cracks should turn out real nice.
That turned out wonderfully! I love that wood's grain!! Germania Cutlery razors are great shavers, I have a couple:)
Looks fantastic! If I'd have to guess, I'd say it's Desert Ironwood. :shrug:
great work, keep it up
We've got Mesquite in this country too; I think I've gotta go get me some. Mulga wood, which is a native here, also has that kind of grain.
Uh oh, looks like it's a declared noxious weed in these parts: if you find it you need to report it!
Quote: prohibited invasive plants under the Biosecurity Act 2014. The Act requires that all sightings be reported to Biosecurity Queensland within 24 hours.
Bummer:(
Nice job on the scales. I too thought it looks like desert ironwood.
