I love the burl with this razor. A whole new look, and very nicely done.
Hey... you're getting pretty good at this restoring thing... :p:rofl2:
Nice job Sir.. :chapeau
THAT, good sir, is a fine looking DD ! Ever thought about taking up honing ? Lol
Now that is one sweet straight razor Glen. You did a fantastic job.
Very nicely done sir :tu
Did you make these end cap accents (unsure of the correct word, bolsters?) or did you manage to save them?
It is a process that Dan aka Floppyshoes (One of yer countrymen) and I came up with many years back, if you search Reaper restores and our two S/N's you will find an old thread about how we did them orginally..
I also show how to remove the inlays on my YouTube channel
Little has changed in the process, I would like to think I have improved on the execution hehehe
To answer your direct question, the old scales are torn down and I rebuild from scratch
here is a couple of pics from this teardown

Pro Tip:
See that stupid baord with the two pins in the second pic ??? that dumb jig REALLY helpes during the rebuild to line up the inlay and bolster transfers
