That is how I do mine.
You have seriously out done yourself. That is just an absolutely amazing razor
Please tell me that you had a striker.... or two. To anyone who doesn't know, explosion pattern is an incredible amount of work
Wow, that is a beauty. Amazing workmanship.
Hello,
thank you all for the kind comments! I am glad that you like the razor.
No it isnīt a sanmai itīs a direkt lamination. So the edge part is not forgewelded between outer layers, itīs forged as one piece on the bottom of the blade. This method is necessary for very thin ground full hollows because the middle layer of a sanmai would come out in the thinnest part of the hollow ground and would interrupt the damascus pattern.
Yes it is Steller Sea Cow ( I didnīt know the translation) and it has itīs natural colour, itīs not stained.
I am not sure what a striker is, but I think you mean a blade that had to be discarded? That happens not very frequently and in this case all went well.
But the damascus blank was made for me by the Balbach forge in Germany. I donīt know if they had some issues ;-)
best regards,
Ulrik
Truly stunning work!
