    Default Wootz razor with hamon

A 15/16" experimental razor. It was an experiment with differential heat treatment to see what a hamon would look like on a wootz razor. The wootz was smelted by Krzysztof Rusek. The scales were made from a couple of pieces of fossil sea cow bone from Mermaid Supplies that were vacuum cast in dyed resin.
I included a closeup of the blade after etching because the pattern is often hard to see in a picture featuring the whole blade.

I’m not sure that I am a fan of the hamon but it looks like a great show of the pattern in the steel below the hamon. I’m being hyper critical to be fair because overall I really like the razor.

That steel really looks great. It's the scales on this one that make it outstanding. They remind me of a far away galaxy seen by the huble telescope. Really like this one Bruno!

Thx. I cast the pieces in purple resin, and then dribbled silvery resin in it and carefully stirred it.
The additional bubbling from the vacuum casting created this effect.
