Thiers Issard Bone scales MOP inlay

Something Im doing for a friend I owe a few favours too.

I actually have a pair of them to do, never done inlay before, quite please with the results.

Aluminium and Horn wedge with stacked ss washers nickel silver pins, brass washers at the pivot.



I have to remake another scale as that happened not happy as you can imagine.

Looking good. I find bleached bone to be brittle, and I prefer to work with raw bone, and lightly bleach it after it has been shaped and polished. It’s nice to get favour returned. I’m sure your friend will be happy with your work.

Its quite hard to get hold of bone in the UK, or should I say Im struggling they guy I get from usually has no stock and he has not replied to my email when or if he will get more in, (granted it was only yesterday I messaged him)
And another supplier I use Highland Horn has stopped trading, a shame about Highland horn as their streaked horn was very good.

I used a Dremel with router attached and made a jig to cut out that exact size.

Its something Ive been wanting to try for awhile now.
