I Pearce ..
I made a restoration video a few days ago but unfortunately my lighting was poor which lead to a flickering film.
So instead i captured some stills from the footage.
John Pearce.
This one had warped scales and deep pitting. Beautiful flowered collars and inlay. One of two i believe and a crown which is the equivalent of warranted.
Around 200 years old . I didn't want to remove too much steel so i just cleaned it up on a 400 grit belt which is a finishing belt. Then i did a touch of 600 grit greaseless and some emery which leaves a satin finish.
The harsh lines in the photos is camera trickery it really just looks like a hazy satin.
I left the scales in Neatsfoot for a few weeks then straightened them out . A light sanding and some epoxy here n there.
Tonight i honed it up on the 800 & 1000 Naniwas then a full Nagura progression on the Nakayama. HHT is great so it will be my xmas day shave.
I think the name scratched into the horn scales reads: H G Slone.
Plenty of character this one.
