Default 3/8 Ferriere round point wedge in pink ivory and matching brush

A good 6 months ago I picked up a leather barbers razor pouch with a hand full of old razors in it. It has been sitting on the shelf taunting me for a while so I decided to clean one up. I see the ladies discussing what kind of razor they like and the resounding theme seams to be round point and small so I thought I would tailor this one for our young ladies. I had a block of pink ivory in my wood stock stash and decided to use it. Now don’t get defensive and yell PINK! not all girls like pink! I put it in pink ivory because I like pink ivory. In fact I made a fill size set of scales for a razor for me.

This is a P.F. Ferriere French made razor. One side of the tang is labeled with a 12 and HONELESS while the other side is labeled P.F. Ferriere .N.Y France. I gave the blade a good sanding and a full buffing progression. There is still a little faint character on the blade but it is near a mirror shine. The blade itself had very little hone ware with light tarnish/rust but I still have several hours of sanding in it. I honed the blade up and it took a very nice edge.

The scales are epoxy resin finished pink ivory cut in the traditional scale shape. Because this is a small 3/8 blade the scales had to be similarly proportioned. I also skipped the usual stainless washer with a brass washer over it because of the petite size. The combination of washers would have been overpowering and distracted from the pink ivory. I went with an Ebony wedge to add contrast to the scales. Because this is a wedge blade, the scale wedge needed to be a little thicker than normal so the blade sits in the scales at the correct height.

I also turned a brush to match the scales. The brush is drilled for a 24mm silvertip brush but my brush order is still in the mail so you will have to use your imagination on that one for now. I do plan on putting the set up for sale in the classifieds in a week when my knot order arrives. I have another twin to this one that I plan on putting in my collection.
