Beau Brummel / Fiddleback Spotted Gum
The black cell scales of my Beau Brummel were unfortunately causing rust to reappear so had to re-scale . Cell rot sux.
The timber is Spotted Gum (Eucalyptus Maculata) which is mostly used for high impact tool handles & other heavy duty stuff but occasionally you see some used in furniture.
I was heavy with the oil so it's a bit dark but the chatoyance is there.
A very curly grain with gold bands that split into 2 & rejoin as you tilt the razor causing a wave-like effect which I can't really photograph but was happy I found something that kept the segmented theme of the original scales.
