Beau Brummel / Fiddleback Spotted Gum
The black cell scales of my Beau Brummel were unfortunately causing rust to reappear so had to re-scale . Cell rot sux.
The timber is Spotted Gum (Eucalyptus Maculata) which is mostly used for high impact tool handles & other heavy duty stuff but occasionally you see some used in furniture.
I was heavy with the oil so it's a bit dark but the chatoyance is there.
A very curly grain with gold bands that split into 2 & rejoin as you tilt the razor causing a wave-like effect which I can't really photograph but was happy I found something that kept the segmented theme of the original scales. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanx Guys.
Very remiss of me not to mention the shave but we don't want to drive prices up any further now do we ?
Actually the first shave was pretty scary. This is the finest ground, most flexible blade I own & I felt like a ham fisted beginner.
Second time was just magic, effortless shaving. It's just one of those razors that's moved the goal posts for me.
Dammit, I might have to sell off all my other razors nowThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Glen, it was more of a fortunate accident rather than careful planning on my part but hey who am I to complain if the razor gods intervene now and zen.The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I really like those scales, the shape, the finish and the wood. I bet they look and feel great in person.
The tang is cool.
The razor has the subtle classy look of a fine tool.
