Reynolds in Claro Walnut -first resto
Ok guys, this is my first resto (and I'll tell you up front that I was so excited to work on this that I forgot to get before pics:gaah::gaah:). When I got this blade it was pitted pretty badly, so I removed as much of it as I could while also keeping as much of the weight of this blade as possible. She shined up very nicely (on one side the pitting was so deep and wide that it looks like a divot, but again, I didn't want to sacrifice the wedge by grinding all of this out).
The scales are claro walnut with a quilted maple spacer that I tried to make fit the blade shape as well as compliment the tang near the pivot. The pivot pin is 3/16 thick brass, and it fit the original blade hole perfectly. The wedge pin was flush ground.
Please share your thoughts... but please be gentle, this was my first try at hand sanding, scales, pinning...all of that stuff...
Enjoy:D
oh yeah.. the scales have a poly finish...
