Wade & Butcher, Sheffield - The Celebrated ~ Faux Tortoise
This razor was send to me with a story and request behind it.
Apparently this razor belonged to a barber who used it mostly his whole life while being in business.
He had to quit everything as he was diagnosed with cancer.
David, who send me the razor, decided with other friends to have the blade restored and rescaled as to cheer him up. The barber has no clue what they were up to, as they wanted to surprise him.
David had started to sand and clean up the blade but got stuck as to removing the heavier stains and blemishes. That's when he decided to contact me and discuss the works. Faux tortoise was his first choice.
It was truly an honor to work on this razor and it ended up being a real show stopper. I had to leave some stains as I didn't want to remove to much of the blade's etching and those few stains went to deep anyways. I hope his barber friend does enjoy seeing his old beloved razor brought back to life.
I also received a Blue Bell razor from David for a general clean up of the scales and blade. I love the looks of that razor so I just added a few pics. I've seen them in the featured red scales and also with cracked ice ones. Truly gorgeous razors.
