6932 8/8 Barber Use Hollow grind Water buff scales
A few days ago I posted a blade only,and some one decided they wanted it ,but wanted it scaled in water buff,So here it is wearing its pants.I thougt some of you old timers might like seeing some photos of it.It will be honed and shipped tomorrow.I roughed in the edge before scaling,so I know it will hone .Specs are below Best Regards GAry

BLADE TYPE: 8/8 Celebrated “For Barbers Use” Hollow grind with stabilizing shoulders. Blade is in “as new” condition. Extra nice “strong” blade engraving ,and makers mark
SCALES: Period correct water buffalo scales. These are not the original scales, but are a correct facsimile

So that is what they looked like when they were new! Very nicely done.
What did you polish the Buffalo horn scales with? They look fantastic.

They can be polished with several compounds.I use scratchless,and sometimes blue plastic compound.But I think the scratchless seals better.Best regards Gary

I'm looking forward to trying to get my buffalow horn scales to a similar shine. But I will be happy to acheive just a fraction of what you have done.

Nathan,They are very easy to get shinny,Just sand first 220/400/600,then buff with plastic compound,or scratchless pink.Fix any cracks or delaminations before sanding Super glue,or buffable epoxy.I love these old buff scales some are 170 + years old and still look and perform like brand new,and super pliable and strong.It is really incredible stuff for scales,and doest mind getting soapy of wet.Good luck.Id like to see some photos when you are finished.Nathan if you dont have the tools to finish the scales ,you can send them to me and I will be glad to do them for you.no charge ,as I am set up,and it just takes a few minutes.Best regards Gary

I'm inspired now , I have several razors with lovley buff scales like that .. I've got them respectable to my own satisfaction but no where near that sort of quality or finish . I think I'll give them another visit and see what sort of improvemnt I can maybe make .
