I tried using a Gold Acrylic to re-build the scales...
Moving the inlay over did not go near as easy as I was hoping... Luckily Mad Max and were talking about what glue to use the other night in chat so I ran a test strip first otherwise I would have wrecked the new scales with CA... I ended up using 5 min epoxy it almost worked like I had planned :boohoo:
Anyway here is the re-build....

Very nice work Glen!!
Did you coat the scales and ornaments with anything after using the epoxy for glue?
Classy work! Whoever sent this to you should be VERY happy!
Steve
Gorgeous razor
Good Job! Very nice rebuild! I' like to have a question: How do You make the Acrylic scales? Do You mold it or something?
Glad the epoxy worked out! resulting in this great combo...
:nj
awesome result. looks like butterscotch, or something tasty. the flat sides make it sweet. pun intended.
Oh, he is!
Glen, I'd never be able to know that they were the same razor. It looks fantastic! This one will be going right to the Monday spot in the rotation when it arrives, though I'll probably have to allow myself a test shave with it as well. Mondays can't be all that bad when you get to start out with a shave with something as nice as this.
Thanks Glen!

What a good job!
Mark, you know how to live, don't you .. :)
Great turnaround while preserving the original character of the razor. Nice work again Glen!
Nice work as usual.
Is it just the perspective, or did that blade have a slight frown in the before photos?
Nice work
The "Wonderedge" almost looks suspended.

Very nice work !:)
Holy Cow!!! That was some restore Glen. That baby must have kept you up at night. Well, be very happy because the results show it was well worth it. Congrats to the lucky owner.
SWEET!! One day I will (probably) get into fully cleaning and sanding a blade to that level. Ya right who am I kidding, I love the formation of patina way to much :D
But I love seeing others skills at doing full restoration jobs :D
Absolutely a beautiful job. What a craftsman!
Lewis
Great save And great job on the hardware shift.
Have you tried any of the low bloom CA's ?
Awesome work Glen!
Glen, you're quickly building yourself a great reputation as the go-to guy for authentic restorations - this one has all the charm of the original, and I think looks even better than the original!
Great job!
Mark
very classy!!!
cheers.:beer2:
all I can say Is WOW beautifull
Glen, it looks like it just came out of the Solingen Duck Works. ;) Fantastic work as usual, but what really grabs me is how authentic the replacement scales look. I'm one of those nuts that really likes authentic scales on razors.
that duck looks awesome!!! nice job :beer1:
way to go Glen! I think it's about time that we make a call for a wiki article on removing and reapplying inlays like this. Very nice
Glen, that kicks some serious butt! I gotta find a source for cracked ice acrylic/plastic sheets.
Great job! Awe inspiring work. Though inexperienced it really makes me want to break the wet and dry out on my most recent acquisition.:tu
Well, I tried, but I couldn't wait for Monday to try it out.
Very smooth, effortless shave, though not perfect. No fault of the blade, though. I didn't give myself enough time for a leisurely shave before heading out to church, so I was a bit rushed.
The blade has a different feel than my others, though I can't put my finger on the difference. My wife also commented that it sounds different as I shave as well.
I'm sure that tomorrow's shave will be both pleasurable and extremely smooth.

Wow! Great looking razor with those new scales! Very well done restoration! One of a kind top notch job!
Awesome save. This goes beyond restoration and onto resurrection. It's wonderful that you were able to stay so true to the original look.
Good work!
That is absolutely beautiful, great work, gratz on the rebuilding of scales,a nd inlay
pure beauty I would go as far as say a pure beautiful work of art
Really nice. Looks amazing. Love that you saved all the brass.
Beautiful! Looks like brand new only with more class.
...and it's still providing superior shaves.
Thanks again for your hard work on this one.
yeah, that's some super work. and I'm very impressed at how nicely the alternate scales look - must be *so* tough to find something that fits - shape, sheen, pattern, etc. not to mention getting the inlays on in a way that looks just as good, if not better. work of art.
That is a really wonderful restore. I just love to see razors remain authentic. You did a great job there.
This is a great job, Glen. I love it :nj
