Droescher Gold Bug
My second Droescher.
First 2 pics are original from eBay then a couple of my own befores.
The edge was a mess of rusty microchips , not the silicon type
Buffed off the remaining gold on the tang which left a pretty good nickel plating. Unfortunately the gold leaf paint I tried would not stick to it tho it seemed to fill the stamps acceptably. Gold plating was not a financially viable option at this stage.
Sanded the scales from 240 - 2000 grit then buffed. BTW these aren't celluloid or typical bakelite.
Anyone know what they are ? galalith ?, catalin.?
Took the blade to a near mirror but kept a fine scratch pattern.
Kept the original thrust washers & wedge. Re -pinned with nickel silver pins & stainless washers.
Size is close to 6/8 & like my other Droescher is a terrible shaver
My offer of free disposal for any other Droescher razors out there still holdsThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
