Thanks, the dark scales are Peruvian Walnut and the lighter ones are Curly Maple both have Lyptus spacers.
I just picked up some Lacewood, Kempas and Jatoba to make some more.

Max, the Maple came from the scrap pile from my fireplace remodel and the Walnut came from my neighbors scrape pile. The finish is Minwax Satin poly. I used 5 coats and rubbed between coats with 0000 steel wool. Then a light coat of Lemon Oil.
Also, both scales are book matched so the grain of the wood follows the same pattern on both sides. I used a bandsaw and re-sawed the wood and had the pieces marked so as the only loss of grain pattern was the kerf of the blade.
