Thanked: 13249Vintage Restore - Super Kama 6/8+ Round point
This is one I decided to take back to original or as close as I could get it anyway ...
A Koch & Schafer #99 Super Kama 6/8+ Round point full hollow grind...
This one was a little neglected but in good shape other than cosmetically... there is near zero hone wear on this one...
I took the razor completely apart and cleaned it up inside and outside, the blade was polished back up on the buffers... I lost the etch that said Super Kama but the polish came out near perfect...
I cleaned up the scales, put in vintage bearing washers and re-pinned all three pins in vintage style brass so they all match...
If you haven't ever shaved with one of these razors, you have missed a treat, they have some of the smoothest steel you will find out there...

Thanked: 13249Thanks Robin, you what is funny is that I was thinking of you when I decided to take it back to original instead of full cutom... I know you like them this way from when we were talking the other night in chat...
When I set up to take the after pics I said to myself "I bet Robin will like this one"

That is a fantastic job Glen! Sometimes keeping the old scales is truly worth it, like this time! Way to go!

Nicely done Glen! I'm with the others in preferring restores to original when possible. I also agree with you that the Kama are excellent shavers and one of our favorites. I have a Super Kama 99, but in black scales and a Kama 25 in white scales. Both were NOS when I received them. We always look forward to shaving with them when they come into rotation, which is on special holidays.

Thanked: 13249Basset:
I use a low speed buffer (1725 rpm) with Fomax greaseless compounds in 80-120-180-320-400-600 then I switch to a high speed buffer (3450 rpm) with Dico polishing compounds in Emory-Stainless- CrOx- Chrome...
For pads I use Sisal for 80-120 then switch to Sewn for 180-Emory then Loose for the Stainless - Chrome...
