glad to be part of the goodness
that's BAD baby! very nice razor... hey glen, any chance of getting a wedge pic?
very cool
Hat's off to both artisan's. Bootiful work gents :tu
so how did the test shave go
I first off need to point out how interested Butch is in his steel, he always asks how things go.... That is huge in my book.....
Honing was as easy as it gets, Started on a Norton 1k using 2 layers of tape (this is what Butch has recommended to me on his razors) 40 med pressure circles as per Lynn's "40 circles to sharp" technique I used a light slurry made with a Washita stone on the N1k... rinsed stone 40 more circles light pressure... 20 laps mixed heel forward / X stokes...
The edge is popping arm hair at this time, the bevel is set and perfectly even and tiny...
Switch over to the Naniwa SS system with 1k-3k-5k-8k-10k-12k using super light polishing strokes...10 Laps on a CeOx bench strop, 50 laps on linen, 75 laps on an Illinois #827, and 25 laps on an SRD Premium I, the edge looks like a mirror and shaves so freaking smooth.... Keep in mind I am no fan of heavy stiff blades but this one feels really nice...
Butch Kudo's to you on the grind too, the tiny perfectly even bevel says a lot....
Al it will be heading home in the AM....
thanks
got to remember that without feedback both good and bad i cant make adjustments to make a better product
6gun and Butch,
Nice work guys. It's a handsome razor although I'm still warming up to the color of the scales. :)
Very nice blade in some very nice scales. :)
Great scales! That is a functional piece of art! :tu
