First scales -- Boker in faux ivory acrylic

Lots of thanks to everyone here at SRP for this, especially Max, Glen and the wiki crew. I got my first Boker from Craigslist recently and the razor was in great condition. Scales were okay but I thought they looked kinda cheap for that razor and I didn't feel like cleaning them.

Not a fan of white scales in general but wanted to have something to compliment the faux-ivory tang. Sent some PMs and Glen offered to send me some extra acrylic he had. Used the old scales as the template and kept it simple. Wedge is from my 3D printer experiment and it turned out pretty sweet. It's clear with a slight yellowish tint and looks great with the faux ivory.

The spot inside the notch in that last picture was red polishing compound. Didn't even know it was there until I looked at the pictures. Hope to have it honed and tested tomorrow. :)

Thanks Oz, and old scales aren't for sale. One of the sides broke off just behind the wedge when I was unpinning, but I'm holding on to them as a template. :)

Awesome! It definitely compliments the tang! The wedge is nicely done! If one didn't know any better it wouldn't look you had one.

What finish did you use on scale if any?

When you said red polishing compound you meant jeweler's rouge no? Thanks

Scales were sanded from 400- to 2000-grit sandpaper, then I carefully used the 2000-grit to smooth out the pins. I finished with my Dremel by using 421 polishing compound on felt wheels. I have no idea how it compares to jeweler's rouge, but here's the product page:
421 Polishing Compound / Model: 421

Then I took some Maas to everything at the end. :)

As far as the pins go, the sandpaper worked pretty well and they have a nice smooth surface now as opposed to the faceted surface I get right after peening. Is that a normal way to get the mirror look or are you guys that darn good at peening? I used my Max razor to compare and his pins are like tiny convex mirrors!
