W & B in process
CarrieM suggest picking this one up at a local antique shop a while ago and we previously posted some pics under show and tell. I took the blade to the buffers just before the latest cold snap hit and was waiting to make some scales before posting. Doesn't look like that's going to happen before spring as we decided on a more complicated config on the scales and it was 3 degrees F here last night with an unheated shop. Anyway, with all the latest discussion on buffers lately I thought some of you would enjoy some eye candy. Included are two beofre shots and them the naked blade. Hope you enjoy.

I got to watch JoeD work on this blade, and it was a real privilege. In case you didn't already know, this man knows his stuff, and he's been very willing to share his knowledge with me.
Joe, if you need a winter workshop, my door is always open.

Now that's an interesting W&B... Wonder if the inscription on the blade says The Celebrated or For barbers Use?
Lovely!

Thanks for your kind words. Haven't got it translated yet. Manah has the same blade STRAZORS.com - all about classic razors - Wade & Butcher, Sheffield. and describes it as 'Chinese Razor', which I also thought. But as you will note on his web site, he found that the characters are not in the Chinese language. Upon closer inspection I agree, not that I know any more Chinese than what I see in restaurants and the like.
So, I don't even know what language it is in. With the British Empire so large during the time I guess this blade was produced I am at a loss. If I were to guess I would say Near East as in Arabic or Middle East as in India. I could be way off base.
Does anyone know what language this etching is in and possibly what it reads?“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
