    Default Joseph Smith&Son in abalone

This is a Joseph Smith & Son Celebrated Razor. I had this blade in my project box and finally got around to cleaning it up. It got a light sanding to clean it up then a run on the buffing wheels to polish it out. The blade is not mirror perfect but plenty shiny. It is a 7/8 barber notch with very little hone ware.

The scales are acrylic abalone, the pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers. The blade has brass thrust bearings. I made the wedge from some metallic green acrylic to match the colorful scales.

I still need to hone it but it should be a very good shaving razor. I will putting it in the classifieds along with the matching abalone brush sometime this week.

Wow! I'm not a big fan of abalone for scales myself, but the matched brush and scales really makes a nice set! Great looking razor, too... very well done!
