Beautiful work!
:bow
Lovely! I really love all these acrylics you use, they look modern and classic at the same time.
So is the balancing nail the most important bit of kit in the shop Glen..? :D
Great job Glen !!!!
You are absolutely right about the balance point and the weight of the scales. ;)
When the razor is held open in the hand for shaving the scales serve as a counter-balance for the blade which normally puts the center of balance of the whole straight razor (blade + scales) approximately right on an imaginary line running up through the lower arm.
Because the center of balance of the razor occupies this 'sweet spot' (in line with the lower arm) the razor is easier to rotate and handle.

You would think it would be so obvious wouldn't you... :)
Honestly if you actually read some of the responses from a few of the guys, you will soon see there is a bit of an inside joke about those balance pics...
You have pm :D
I've got the bahamma mama kama from Glen, and he is the master of balance. That thing just melts in my hand and feels like an extension of my arm.
Another example of your great work.
Wonderful job!!! :bow Will always love these big W&B's......
Thanks for sharing!!

All jokes about the magic nail aside, how seriously to you take the balance. How often does it occur that your not happy with the way things are looking, and what do you do? take a little more off the scales if they're too heavy, add a heavier wedge if they're too light?
Glen
Good job on that W&B, love those balance pics...
