My first try at restoring..... well semi restoring anyway
Evening all.
Well I had a go at restoring an old razor. It was my first attempt so I tried it all on a straight of unknown brand or age.
I don't have any power tools bar a drill so it was all my hand. I'm not 100% happy with it but it was my first go. I found the pins quite hard to do so I seriously take my hat off to you guys that make it look so easy in the tutorial videos.
Anyway enough talking, here's a pic or two. Sorry for the low res pics. They are just from my phone..... I'm hoping they'll hide a few things
Before & after.......

Hehe, seems like your phone answered your prayers - I can't spot any flaws at all
Seriously tho, congrats on your first, that looks great. Nicely done, you got clean steel and transformed it into a useable and good looking razor fit for shaving. What else could one ask
How does it shave?Last edited by str8fencer; 05-01-2011 at 09:18 AM.

I think I'm going to have to redo the pin at the blade end. I'm not sure how but the blade has moved slightly and it's no longer perfectly centered when closing
As for shaving.... I have nothing to compare it to sorry. I just had my first ever attempt at using a straight razor just now. I can't believe how smooth my face isI only had the balls to have the side down to my jaw.
Thanks for your kind words.

Great job! Pinning is an art form all to it self. I havent had anyone elso but Max do some razors so i cant comment on their pinning. Max's are amazing and i still have no idea how he can make them so tight. I dont mean just tight i mean TIGHT.

That looks horrible. You must send it to me for immediate disposal. Honestly, very nice job. Must have taken a long time by hand. Verry nice.
