I picked up a no namer yesterday at a thrift store for $3.00. The blade is pretty decent, but the black plastic scales were not intact. I breadknifed it, and am now honing it. I want to make plastic scales and finally pin the thing myself.

I have two questions at this point in time:
1. How you get a crud looking razor to shine like its new? Do I have to get some buffing thing?
2. How does a total putz such as myself cut scales from a plastic clipboard, drill it and then pin it together without completely destroying the clipboard in the process?

I want to do this right, but if I screw it up, I'm only out about 3 bucks.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
