F.W. Backhaus, Ohligs - Germany : Bolivian Rosewood
The razor needed a full restore but the request for the scales kept me thinking for a while. It is the person's first venture into straight shaving so he wanted the hunting knife handles as a general shape for his scales (see pic below). When I told him that razor scales and knife handles are two different animals both designed with different strokes, techniques and purposes.
So he replied to just Frankenstein it and try my best.
Anyway, it's what I finally ended up doing. Blade got a full restore from the greaseless to the rouges. I was able to salvage the gorgeous engraving. Scales are Bolivian Rosewood and harware is nickel silver and stainless steel. Wedge is tapered maple. I worked with files and sandpaper only on the scales. Final buffing with white rouge on the wheels.
Have a great WK!
