My First Complete Restoration....
Ok, this is my first complete restoration on a razor. The razor is a 6/8 Greaves & Sons 1/4 hollow wedge. It had some decoration on the face of the blade, but the blade was covered in patina, rust and pits and the back side was much much worse. I took the razor apart and started hand-sanding the blade. After what seemed like 2 weeks, but was probably closer to about 15 hours, I sanded my way from 220 up to 1500 grit on the blade and got all but one tiny little pit out. I then made scales out of some blue G10 and used black G10 for the wedge. Scales were sanded from 220 up to 1500 and finished with Black, then White buffing compound. Pins are nickel silver rods and stainless washers. I used a 2 pin design on the wedge end since it was my first time and wanted to make sure the wedge was fully secured. I learned a lot working on this razor. I have such a complete respect for the guys out there that do this often, and I can't wait to get my hands on another to practice some of the little tips and tricks I've learned on this one. I'd also like to say thank you to everyone who's posted hints and tips for working razors, I've read so many threads on here that have helped more than words can describe. Any advice, criticism or any thoughts you'd like to ad, please let me know. I also need some major work on my camera skills, but I guess that will come with time.
