    Default Abalone and MOP scales

The abalone ...made from slab with light green G10 liner. Sanded to 12000 grit. I chose not to cover the shell with epoxy resin or CA. It looks and feels just fine the way it is. General consensus from jewelers that I know say not to cover shell.

The mother of pearl .... made from (2) 2.85 X .95 inch AAA blanks. Epoxied onto black G10 liners and sanded with micro mesh. Again, no protective coating.

For my first go with shell, I think these came out rather well. They were a little time consuming and trying to make the shell seamless from unsanded slab is a challenge. That and having uneven pieces to match. But shell surely is a beautiful medium when looking at the finished product. Unfortunately, it's very hard to photograph. The brilliance and depth of these scales do not show in the pics. Hope you like em!

p.s. Many thanks to Dirtychrome for his help, time, and knowledge
