Complete Original W&B in Horn
One of the guys I work with brought me his grandfather's blade to refinish for him. He had some very specific requests. Keep the scales, bug holes and all, polish the blade, but leave it a little rough to "tell the story." He has been tickled pink with the progress, even sitting with me for 2 hours during hand sanding one night. His grandfather was BORN ~1900, so this blade was quite old by the time he started shaving. It may or may not have been passed down from his great-grandfather. I'm going to surprise him by getting it honed for him and then shaving him. He is going to love the connection with the past.
Pins are 1/16" brass rod with stacked brass on brass washers. I was sweating bullets during the unpin because this was the first time I'd ever wanted to keep the scales on a razor.
In the second finished picture, the blade isn't discoloured, it's the sidewalk reflecting.
