Chipped corner

Hello all good people,

I have small problem with this razor. End of cutting edge has small chip and it is exactly a corner. This is one of not restored but cleaned up razor as it was in good shape. Now I am think that I should set bevel but as I have notice to get chip leveled with new bevel will take an excessive amount of metal. Can I leave this chip untouched and wait until in one, two year will reach chip level and honing, refreshing will remove chip naturally? Should I just polish this corner over hone and create cube shape? Rounded?

I would just round it off. I'm sure the experts on the subject will have more input and probably other ideas as well, so wait and see what's said and which idea you like better.

I think you got the solution right.

I've had a few razors from the flea market with the same problem. I just rounded them off with the help of some very fine grit wet sandpaper. But there might be better ways to deal with it, I'm sure others will tune in.

I'll add that you can do it on the side of a hone if you don't have any sandpaper handy.
I'll also add that a very gentle touch will do you well here. That area will be especially prone to becoming a much larger chip if you're pushy with it.

If you hone, leave it till then. If you don't hone, leave it to the honer...may take a honer up to 15 seconds to fix it while at the stones...

Many older square points were rounded off, not really a problem, a little safer too. If this displeases you to do this, the blade can be honed easily until the blade is even and squared. I completely agree with shooter.
