Palmera 14 in Ebony and Walnut
Juan Vollmer Palmera 14
Scales in Gaboon Ebony with Black Walnet insets and wedge.
Nickle pins with stainless steel washers.
Tru-Oil finish.
All surfaces of the blade were brought to a clean mirror finish with the exception of the maker's mark area of the tang - I wanted to preserve what little of the Juan Vollmer logo was still present when I acquired the razor (very faint traces of the palm tree and Juan Vollmer name are still visible).
The original metal inlay was applied on the new scales with epoxy. Then the scales were finished with approximately 12 applications of Tru-Oil (to provide both depth to the finish as well as bring the surface a bit closer to being flush with the 'inlay').
Final touch was a bit of Renaissance Wax applied to both the scales and the blade to help prevent finger prints.
