Thanked: 247Frederick Reynolds in translucent horn. Pic heavy
I finally put one together that I'd wanted for awhile. I have other FR's, but this one came with some fancy scales with gold writing. I loved it. I stared at it regularly, wondering how I would remove the oh so precious scales, and repair them, without screwing them up...So anyhow, you know the rest of the story. The pictures are after, and then before. Very excited to try this one out. It's a 6/8 not so wedgie wedge. Should work wonderfully.

Thanked: 247Thanks! It looked nicer before the last polish, but every little pit that got left behind filled up with the black stuff when I polished it. I'm still not confident enough to take it all the way down to brand new metal. Everytime I took some off, I got nervous about overheating, gouging, etc. But I did have to regrind it. I think it's ok for a first ever regrind.

Man, you're a better man than me! That's a ton of work.
. Hard to hurt a thick wedge, eh? I often wondered why the front scale is always the broken one! Back in service! Enjoy!

Thanked: 884WOW!! Talk about resurrecting the walking wounded!! NICE job Joe.
I've got two FR's and I LOVE 'em!! They sharpen easy and stay that way. I'm fond of those translucent "wedgeless" scales too.
I polished mine with Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish after "rough sanding" with 2K wet or dry and mine are smooth as silk now.
GOOD JOB. Tell us how she shaves.
