Wood and resin or mikarta finish...it makes the scales almost bullet proof...feedback please.

Looks good. Did you soak the timber in the resin? Or is it laminated?

Those scales look really nice. Which resin did you use and what was the process?? If they are fully soaked inside and out they are not only bullet proof but the armor will not rust!!

I carved out the scales and then poured on the resin. doing the inside first and thinning the resin with a cleanup solvent from Johnstown then did the outside surfaces in one cote removing the excess with a small art brush.
The resin is Envirotex lite, Pour-on. got it at ace hardware...best I have found so far.

It takes about three hours to flow out and don't forget that all air bubbles can be solved by blowing your breath on the surface like you would to clean your glasses. A few puffs will usually do.

Oh yeah...drill for pins prior to coating.

I would have no problem picking the scales if it was going to be my razor lol. I would do the first one for sure! I love the dark color so much, but thats just what I would want lol. Either way I am sure its going to look great! stunning work!

They look nice. I've heard people using CA. Isn't this the same thing? Please excuse my ignorance. I honestly don't know.
