Default J Mappin and Sons in black horn

Here is probably my third full restoration, I bought a scabby looking J Mappin and Sons off ebay awile ago for $36 and I loved the way it looked with the Frame but it was in super rough shape as you can see by the before pics. I hand sanded from 80 gritt up to 2000 and did the same on the newly shaped horn as the old wood scales were not worth keeping although I did keep the original shape as much as possible. I used nickel pins with brass washers and a mother of pearl wedge I had left over from a Waldorf I did. Hope you like.

Even though you described how you did that I still feel like you, and other guys who make these nice restorations, use some sort of magic trick. I'm sure if I try it myself and actually see it changing then I won't be as shocked but for now...

No magic! stupid amounts of patience! Just gotta sit in front of the TV and sand untill your hand feels like its gonna fall off. Then sand more. Haha!
    Cheers!

Strange. I was looking at one very similar to this on eBay. Even had the sewing string fix! Should go back to see if I can find it again!
