Thread: Recent restores and first time using a coticule.

Not sure where this should go since it has to do with restoring and honing, but here it is. First off let me say that after reading about coticules thought I should try one and reading about the dislikes and likes of narrow hones thought I would get my self a coticule bout that was about 1"x7" to try. Not to mention that it was cheap. The first razor is a W&B Bow 5/8 that I am pretty sure was a regrind at some point. It has been sitting in my to do pile for awhile now. I didn't do much to it except clean, polished and repinned. Glad I don't own a buffer cause I didn't want to do to much as I liked the look of the vintage, used look of it. I kept some of the scratches in the scales instead of sanding them all out. There are still some blemishes, but I think gives it character. The scales I just sanded a few rough spots and lightly polished up. It was the first razor that I used on the coticule and I have to say I liked the edge as a finisher and was quite smooth. The second razor is Ern #4 11/16 that I got recently and that one only took some cleaning and a light polish. I was surprised to find out that it has a silver wedge. It honed up really nice off of the coticule. I have to say that it was a really loud shaver, but just seemed to glide through the hair like nothing. The third is a Case Bros 11/16 that just needed a good cleaning and polishing. After the coticule the shave wasn't as smooth as the other two so I think I'll give it a few more passes on the hone and maybe try my C12k and see if that helps. The Ern and Case Bros I didn't put any before photos since they didn't need much and didn't change much once done.
